Denise's Story - We Risk Our All to Reach the One

In week two of our Vibrant Family Values series, we talked about the way that We Risk Our All to Reach the One.

This week's value is exemplified by Denise Ackroyd. Check out how God has moved through Denise's decision to step out of her comfort zone:

"Two years ago I had the opportunity to begin a clinic along with two fellow nurses to wash and address foot care issues in our homeless and unstably housed population here in Central PA, called Street Feet.  I had no idea what this would all entail and I was not sure about the risks of getting involved.  I had doubts that it would succeed, all the things that had to be in place and about the large amount of the work it would take to get started.  I am so happy that I said yes to this opportunity because it has been a blessing in so many ways.

It has given me and so many others a chance to reach out and care for those often overlooked by society.  When you sit one on one with someone, look them in the eye, listen to their story and love them, even for a moment, it will make a difference for them.  They just can’t believe that you want to care for them by washing their feet.  I am blessed and humbled to serve God and care for his people during the Street Feet clinic.

Saying yes to the opportunity God brought to me has changed my life in a very profound way."
